RQAP Re-registration

Professionals first earn an RQAP credential by passing an examination in either Good Laboratory Practices or Good Clinical Practices. Registered professionals must re-register every three years by submitting documentation of ongoing discipline-specific and professional activities.

A total of 48 units are required to re-register. See below for details on the entire re-registration process, activities that qualify for earning units, how to report non-SQA activities, and more.

Notification of re-registration status (approval, denial or further information needed) will be provided to all re-registration applicants within 3 months of the 31 October submission deadline.

Notices

The RQAP Re-Registration Application is open for 2026 applications.

SQA Active members receive a $75 discount on the RQAP re-registration fee. SQA Outreach members receive a $150 discount on the RQAP re-registration fee. The discount cannot be applied towards a late application fee. Not a member? Learn more about SQA Membership Types.

Dual Registrants: If you hold both an RQAP-GCP and an RQAP-GLP credential, you must re-register separately for each of your credentials. However, some re-registration units may count towards both. Your deadlines may be in different years, but there is a process for synchronizing them to the same year. See details about RQAP Re-registration for Dual Registrants.

RQAP Re-Registration Process

Click/tap to expand each step.

Step 1.   Earn Re-registration Units

WHEN: Continuously during your three-year re-registration cycle, between 1 April/October of the first year and 30 September of the third year.
  • Example 1 (first re-registration):  If you passed an RQAP exam in 2023, you need to complete qualifying activities between 1 April 2023 and 30 September 2026, and complete steps 2 through 5 below.
  • Example 2 (subsequent re-registration):  If you last re-registered in 2023, you need to complete qualifying activities between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2026, and complete steps 2 through 5 below.
HOW MANY: 48 units total
  • At least 24 discipline-specific units (regarding regulations/guidance/auditing) that are GLP-related for RQAP-GLP registrants or GCP-related for RQAP-GCP registrants. Please see question 25 of the RQAP FAQ page for further explanation.
  • Up to 24 other professional units (based on relevant professional activities, e.g., a seminar in statistics, analytical chemistry or microbiology; a workshop on organizational effectiveness or process improvement; participation in professional committee work; etc.)

SEE WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES QUALIFY

Also see section 5.2 of SOP CP-12.14, Re-registration Requirements for details on qualifying activities.

FIND ACTIVITIES: Check out SQA's offerings on upcoming webinars, webinar recordings, online courses, Annual Meeting recordings, and the next Annual Meeting and Quality College. Also look for educational events held by our Regional Chapters, MoU Organizations, and Liaison Organizations.

TIP: SQA educational activities usually indicate the type and number of re-registration units available; look for this information in the event/course description. Units are automatically tracked in your transcript when you complete SQA events, SQA courses, and most educational events held by SQA Regional Chapters. See Step 3 below about checking units in your SQA transcript.

Step 2.   Report Non-SQA and Non-Transcript Activities

Activities that are not organized or overseen by SQA, as well as SQA activities that are not automatically documented in your SQA Transcript (e.g., committee officer), must be self-reported through the SQA Online Learning Center. See Step 3 about checking your transcript.

WHEN: As soon as possible after completing each activity
You may wait to submit these activities shortly before submitting your application. However, the Council does not guarantee approval of units and you could end up with fewer units than you expect if an activity is not approved, so it is best to seek approval in advance if at all possible. Submitting activities on an on-going basis will make the application process faster and easier when the time comes. It also avoids the problem of documentation being lost or misplaced, and gives you a shorter turn-around time for re-registration approval.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Proof of attendance AND documentation of the length of time spent in the activity. If you are providing presentation slides as documentation, please submit only the slides indicating the presentation title, presenter name, date, and agenda (the full slide set is NOT necessary). Please only include documentation for 60 units maximum.

SEE DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR EACH TYPE OF ACTIVITY

HOW: Collect the required documentation, and follow the link below to the SQA Online Learning Center. On the top right, in the area titled, "Self-Reported Learning: Non-Transcript RQAP Re-registration Units," click the link for "Submit Self-Reported Learning," and complete the form provided.

SUBMIT SELF-REPORTED LEARNING
You will be asked to sign in and will be taken to the SQA Online Learning Center.

Step 3.   Check Your Transcript & Re-registration Units

Check your transcript to see how many units have been approved for non-SQA activities that you previously reported (Step 2), and see how many units you have for SQA activities.

WHEN:  Ongoing as you complete and report activities, especially during the third year of your RQAP re-registration cycle.

CHECK YOUR SQA TRANSCRIPT
You will be asked to sign in and will be taken to the SQA Online Learning Center.

TIP:  Click/tap on "Complete" at the top of the transcript table to sort activities by date. If a + appears next to an activity, click/tap it to expand the activity details.

NOTE: Activities must have been completed during the qualifying time period, from April (for first-time re-registrants) or October of the first year in your re-registration cycle through September of the third year in your cycle. See the examples in Step 1 above. Remember that at least 24 units must be discipline-specific (regulations/guidance/auditing) and up to 24 may be for other professional activities/training.

NEED MORE UNITS? Check out SQA's offerings on upcoming webinars, webinar recordings, online courses, Annual Meeting recordings, and the next Annual Meeting and Quality College. Also look for educational events held by our Regional Chapters, MoU Organizations, and Liaison Organizations. Most SQA activities are automatically tracked in your transcript. You will need to self-report non-SQA activities - see Step 2 above.

Step 4.   Submit Your Re-registration Application

WHEN: As early as possible ON or BEFORE October 31 in the third year of your re-registration cycle

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT:

Incorrect documentation is the leading cause of delays to re-registration. You do NOT have to wait for approval of your non-SQA/non-transcript activities before submitting your application. However, approval of re-registration units is not guaranteed, so it is best to submit activities as early/often as possible (see step 2).

SUBMIT YOUR RE-REGISTRATION APPLICATION
You will be asked to sign in.

Remember to pay your application fee in step 5 below. Your application will not be processed until payment is received.

Step 5.   Pay the Application Fee

WHEN: ON or BEFORE 31 October in the third year of your RQAP re-registration cycle, immediately after submitting your application

COST: $125 for SQA members ($50 for Outreach members) or $200 for non-members

To compensate for increased program costs, the re-registration fee for SQA members has been increased from $95 to $125 (the non-member rate has been increased from $175 to $200). This is the first fee increase in nearly 10 years, as the re-registration fee was last increased by $20 in 2015.

LATE FEE: $25 late fee for any application accepted after 31 October. Any applications received more than 90 days after the 31 October deadline will be refused, although Registrants may appeal to the Council if there are extenuating circumstances.

Fees should be made payable to the Society of Quality Assurance and must be submitted with the re-registration application.

The RQAP re-registration application is currently closed but will reopen shortly for 2026 re-registration.

You will be asked to sign in.
