Strategic Plan

The strategic planning process is key for SQA to develop a vision of where it will be in the future and determining the best ways to turn that vision into reality. The SQA Board of Directors has developed detailed plans to lead the society and best serve SQA members.

Mission Statement
Promote and advance the ethics, principles, and knowledge of quality assurance essential to human, animal, and environmental health.

Vision Statement
A world with safe and effective biologics, chemicals, drugs, and medical devices for humans, animals, and the environment. 

Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives as of 20 February 2026

Goal 1
- Provide an international forum for exchange and dissemination of regulatory compliance and quality assurance knowledge.
  • Objective 1A: Increase partnerships and strengthen relationships with international QA organizations, regulatory agencies, and professionals.
  • Objective 1B: Foster development of QA professionals from regions not otherwise represented by a national or regional QA society.
  • Objective 1C: Foster the Outreach membership program for individuals living in low- and middle-income countries as designated by the World Bank.
  • Objective 1D: Share the Mentoring program model with other international QA organizations.
  • Objective 1E: Facilitate collaboration with professional societies that share the SQA goals of advancing the ethics, principles, and knowledge of QA essential to human, animal, and environmental health.

 

Goal 2 - Advance the quality assurance profession through awareness and education.
  • Objective 2A: Facilitate interactions and strengthen relationships with regulatory agencies and their representatives.
  • Objective 2B: Facilitate interactions with industry and academia and communicate the value of SQA membership and programs.
  • Objective 2C: Strategically expand the Registered Quality Assurance Professional (RQAP) program.
  • Objective 2D: Promote professional publications.
  • Objective 2E: Provide opportunities for career development.
  • Objective 2F: Promote honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior in the Quality Assurance profession.
  • Objective 2G: Provide best-in-class education and training for QA professionals.
  • Objective 2H: Identify qualified subject matter experts to develop content on emerging trends/less well-represented areas of expertise within SQA.

 

Goal 3 - Promote industry perspective and awareness of global regulatory issues that affect our professional and business communities.
  • Objective 3A: Initiate discussion, educational opportunities, and publications.
  • Objective 3B: Engage with legislative and governmental bodies and collaborative organizations to promote compliance in regulated studies (e.g., RRT).

 

Goal 4 - Identify and develop new leaders by providing them with the appropriate skills and support to take on SQA leadership roles.
  • Objective 4A: Develop resources to increase leadership and volunteer engagement.
  • Objective 4B: Support the development of mid-career members.
  • Objective 4C: Support the development of and recognize first steps into leadership.
  • Objective 4D: Provide more opportunities for early career development.
  • Objective 4E: Increase the amount of advanced educational content.
  • Objective 4F: Effectively train incoming leaders on SQA’s structure and operations and provide support during the transition process.

 

Goal 5 - Preserve and strengthen SQA’s culture of sharing knowledge to better serve a growing and developing membership.
  • Objective 5A: Increase the number of successful partnerships achieved through the Mentoring program.
  • Objective 5B: Increase value of and participation in the Annual Meeting and Quality College.
  • Objective 5C: Increase the visibility, value of, and participation in the Regional Chapters, Specialty Sections, and Committees.
  • Objective 5D: Take advantage of new and emerging technology and trends to deliver quality education and training.
  • Objective 5E: Evolve the SQA website user experience.
  • Objective 5F: Increase the value of the SQA publications.
  • Objective 5G: Increase the number of Registered Quality Assurance Professionals.
  • Objective 5H: Regularly evaluate SQA’s financial reserves against its commitments in an evolving economy.
  • Objective 5I: Expand the SQA membership by emphasizing the unique value of SQA and effectively onboard new members.
  • Objective 5J: Record, preserve, and present the history of SQA.
  • Objective 5K: Develop and support the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee to recommend resources and propose actions around this topic.
  • Objective 5L: Create a community for members that prioritizes networking and providing forums to facilitate valuable connections between members.
